Last week Sophie saw a shooting star. She was so ecstatic that she spilt her hot chocolate! Although she has lived in Lake Tekapo her entire life, she wanted to learn about the stars. So, she booked onto a tour with Earth and Sky, and when night fell, she headed up to the top of the Mt. John.
Lake Tekapo is the world's largest night sky reserve and is a UNESCO world heritage site. The friendly guides pointed out the most incredible stars, and Sophie asked a list of questions she had written down the night before. They even gave her a hot chocolate (and another one seeing as the first one got knocked over). To see the stars Sophie saw, click here.

Sophie's favourite adventure is the one-hour Lake view trek with her favourite horse Billy. Sophie says that you need to listen out for the beautiful skylarks twittering above in the clear summer skies.
Ever since Sophie was a little girl, she has spent her summers paddle boarding on Lake Tekapo. She wanted to find some new bays to explore, so she went and found Pete, the owner of Paddle Lake Tekapo.
He knew all of the best places to explore. You can click here to contact Pete for a paddle board adventure.
SKIING & SNOWBOARDING
An incredibly friendly family ski area, Round Hill is a true playground for Sophie and her friends. A 45-minute drive up a gravel road, Sophie always makes sure she takes chains in her car and checks the weather forecast.
The weather in the mountains is always on the move and it pays to have everything with you. It’s better to have too much gear as opposed to not enough. To discover the adventure Round Hill has to offer, click here.
